June 12th. The day of Rylan.
Continuing on boys' birthday, today just happens to be June 12th. Another very important day in my life.
June 12, 2007
The day I met my third son, Rylan James. I went in to the hospital that morning for a planned induction. At 9:30 AM labor started. At 5:59 PM Alaska standard time, a bouncing baby boy entered my life. Rylan James was 9 pounds 8 ounces, 22 inches long. We had a rough few hours together, but after that it was nothing but amazing. Rylan was beautiful, everything I had imagined him to be. Dark brown hair, just like his brothers, and grey eyes (which later turned brown).

The celebration for Rylan's first birthday was just adorable. We did a cupcake themed party, blue and chocolate cupcakes all over. He got a cupcake of his own to demolish, but he hardly even made a dent in it!

Rylan's second birthday was celebrated with a Go Diego Go party! Even at two years old, he was so insistent on what he wanted. It had to be his Diego!

Rylan's third birthday was... well... unforgettable. Anyone who has had a three year old boy knows JUST how particular and stubborn they can be. Well Rylan was no exception to this. When he was a few months away from his third birthday, by some chance he got a mermaid barbie in a happy meal. He was in love. The Little Mermaid was his new favorite movie. He INSISTED on a Little Mermaid party. I tried to make it "Under the Sea" and get away with a Flounder and Sebastian cake. No go. It needed Ariel on it. I gave up on arguing with a three year old and just let him have what he wanted. We celebrated with Mermaids that day.

Rylan's fourth birthday was postponed until he returned from his summer in North Carolina with his dad. So it wasn't until August that we were able to have his Candyland bash. Mommy was stuck on bedrest so Jason put together his cake, party, and got all his presents. He was so happy to have his "Alaska birthday" and finally listened when we said he was four!

Today is five years of Rylan James in my life. It is a very hard day for me because my sweet little man is again with his dad in North Carolina for his actual birthday. Our sweet guy has made the passage into being a kid, like his brothers before him. He will be going to kindergarten in August, but before he does, we will celebrate him with a swimming birthday with superheros (particularly the Hulk and Superman). Here he is, our amazing grown up spunky five year old (taken a month before his birthday by my amazing friend Cherie of Dashing Life Photography).
